Parents
Naturally as a parent you want your son or daughter to find a suitable Apprenticeship or Traineeship with a good employer. You want them to have the best chance of completing their contract of training and achieving a qualification.
Group Training Organisations offer advantages which many other employers of Apprentices and Trainees aren’t able to provide:
- Group Training Organisations provide extensive support to their Apprentices and Trainees. This includes regular workplace visits, assistance with any problems which occur in the workplace, and help with any difficulties they may encounter with their off-the-job training. This support can also extend to help with personal problems if these problems are affecting the work performance of the Apprentice or Trainee.
- Because Group Training organisations place their Apprentices and Trainees with a host employer, they are usually able to offer an alternative if the host is unable to offer continuing work, or is found not to be suitable for the particular Apprentice or Trainee. This means your daughter or son will have the best chance of having continuous employment during their contract of training, and of completing their contract.
- Many Group Training Organisations are accredited by the State Government for meeting National Standards for Group Training Organisations. These Standards include requirements for effective support of Apprentices and Trainees. All members of GTA (SA) with details included in this website meet the National Standards.
Your Son or Daughter Isn’t Sure of What Job They Want to Do?
Sometimes it can be difficult to make a career choice, especially for young people with little or no direct experience of the workforce.
If your son or daughter can’t decide, help is at hand. The Department of Education Science and Training has a website which includes a Job Guide with information about hundreds of different jobs, including details of the training and qualifications needed.
