Group Training Australia SA has great pleasure in announcing the winners of the South Australian Group Training Awards 2008. GTA (SA) conducts these awards to recognise outstanding achievement in the Australian vocational education and training sector.

These awards reward and honour the achievements of apprentices, trainees, Indigenous apprentices/trainees and Australian School-based Apprentices. Group Training Organisations are invited to participate in all categories. The winners in each category also go on to represent South Australia at the Group Training Australia Awards held every 18 months at the National Conference.

The Awards are presented across four categories and the winners selected on an applicant’s performance in:

1. Career and study achievements
2. Communication, team and leadership skills
3. Other pursuits
4. Ability to represent the national training system at a broader level

Apprentice of the Year Trainee of the Year
Andrew

Andrew Waller
from Engineering Employers Association Group Training Scheme.

A 4th year Electrotechnology apprentice, Andrew has been hosted by Clipsal Integrated Systems and trained by TAFE SA Regency Campus for the duration of his apprenticeship. A talented and committed apprentice, Andrew has consistently proven himself an effective ambassador for the training system and an excellent role model for young people embarking upon a career path.

Julian Julian Modra
from AFL SportsReady

Julian has been hosted by The Sporting Car Club of SA and trained by Sport SA as he undertakes Cert III in Sport & Recreation. Julian has proven himself a dedicated and enthusiastic trainee and is he held in high regard by his host employer. His leadership abilities and exceptional communication skills are qualities that will hold him in good stead for the future.

Clinton

Clinton Rosas
from Engineering Employers Group Training Scheme

A 2nd year Electrotechnology Systems apprentice, Clinton is hosted by A & J Electrical and undertakes his off-the-job training at TAFE SA Regency Campus. This award acknowledges that Clinton is well on his way to achieving his goals through his hard work and commitment, and has a bright future ahead of him. Dedicated to his apprenticeship and the industry, and with a determined resilience, Clinton is a powerful role model for his generation and the indigenous community.

Jesse Jesse Passon
from Engineering Employers Association Group Training Scheme

While undertaking his School-based apprenticeship, Jesse has been attending the Australian Technical College – Northern Adelaide. He is hosted by Defence Science Technology Organisation and trained by TAFE SA Regency Campus. Jesse is currently completing his SACE and the 1st year of an Electrotechnology Communications apprenticeship and has proven himself an outstanding achiever. Jesse is a strong advocate of the School-based Apprentice system in conjunction with ATC-Northern Adelaide’s unique training program.
