The 2009 Group Training Australia (SA) awards were proudly presented by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, Governor of South Australia and patron of Group Training Australia (SA) at Government House on 17 February 2010.

Group Training Australia (SA) Awards proudly supported by the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology, MEGT and Employers Mutual Limited. 

These awards reward and honour the achievements of apprentices, trainees, Indigenous apprentices/trainees and Australian School-based Apprentices. Group Training Organisations are invited to participate in all categories. The winners of each category also go on to represent South Australia at the Group Training Australia Awards held every 18 months at the National Conference.

The Awards are presented across four categories and the winners are selected based upon an applicant’s performance in:

1. Career and study achievements
2. Communication, team and leadership skills
3. Other pursuits
4. Ability to represent the national training system at a broader level

Apprentice of the Year Trainee of the Year
 

Ty Borlace                      

from Australian Industry Group Training Services.

Ty is a stage IV Apprentice Electrician.  He is hosted by SAGE Automation and his registered training organisation is TAFE SA North.  A highly motivated, well-rounded achiever, Ty has proven himself an outstanding ambassador for apprentices and the group training model.  Ty plans on extending himself still further and his future ambitions include an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering and advanced PLC programming .  

 

Lauren Tiltman 
from Statewide Group Training (SA) Inc.


Hosted by the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation (SA Branch), Lauren has attained Cert III in Business Administration from the Stones & Muirden Business College.  Lauren is an exceptionally dedicated and mature-minded individual and is held in high regard by her host employer.  An out-standing role model for young mothers and a strong advocate of the group training pathway, her determination and drive will ensure her a stellar career ahead.

Yasmina Tadic 
from Group Training Employment

Yasmina attained Cert II in Business Administration through TAFE SA Regional,  Mt Gambier and while working as the receptionist for Group Training Employment.  With an exceptional work-ethic and personable manner, she was the consummate office professional.  Her success with her studies has enabled her to move on to university to study journalism and international studies.  Yasmina is a powerful role model for her generation and the indigenous community.

 

Douglas Brook 
from Australian Industry Group Training Services


Douglas is undertaking Cert III in Electrotechnology.  He is enrolled at Marcellin Technical College and hosted to United Water International. Douglas is an enthusiastic and committed apprentice with a genuine passion and talent for his trade.  Displaying great potential and clear aspirations, Douglas intends to expand his studies still further and has a bright future ahead of him.
